Responsibilities
Performs a variety of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures and Computed Tomography (CT) procedures for the diagnosis of disease; provides appropriate care and service to patients of all age groups. The CT/MRI Technologist exercises independence, ingenuity, and initiative while performing exams, assuming responsibility for the preparation, monitoring, care, and safety of the patient.

Review patient history, gather pertinent previous studies and films, and examine records to ensure appropriateness of ordered examination.

Perform all routine aspects of CT/MRI procedures including startup procedures, test scans, program selection, media injections, filming, and exam processing.

Effectively monitor patient safety at all times and interview the patient prior to the CT/MRI exam; discuss potential problems with the radiologist if necessary.

Monitor equipment to ensure the CT/MRI environment is safe and all systems are in proper working order; report any potential or actual problems to the Director of Radiology in a timely manner.

Perform tasks such as lifting, positioning, and transferring patients on/off the exam table.

Accurately explain the CT/MRI procedure to patients, ensuring comfort while on the scanner, and assure positioning and successful completion of the exam or the radiologist protocol.

Operate complex radiographic equipment for standard diagnostic X‑rays, position patients using various immobilization devices, and select proper technical factors.

Complete standard consultation forms and maintain accurate records of all procedures in a logbook.

Clean and maintain orderliness in the assigned area; maintain adequate supplies and notify the Director of Radiology of any shortage.

Adhere to appropriate universal precautionary measures as outlined in the infection control program.

Develop X‑ray films using automatic equipment.

May participate in formal teaching programs and in‑service education classes as required.

Perform other related duties as required, such as orienting new personnel to department procedures.

Qualifications
Two years of experience preferred in a hospital or clinic environment. High School Diploma required, with graduation from an accredited CT and MRI education program. Prior training with all age groups (neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric) and familiarity with Siemens MRI equipment is a plus. Skilled with Siemens CT equipment (16 and 64 slice).

Certificates, licenses, and registrations required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT/CRT) Certification (MR) and CT, CPR certification. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (AHA BLS) is required.
