Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Tool Designer / CAD Engineer with strong experience in softgoods prototype development. The ideal candidate will support design, prototyping, and validation of textile, silicone, and polymer-based components aligned with industrial design and manufacturing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute high-fidelity softgoods prototypes
Support material selection and characterization (textiles, silicones, polymers, coatings)
Create and refine 2D patterns from 3D CAD models and perform fit validation
Execute cut-and-sew trials, seam iterations, and construction improvements
Support EVT & DVT builds and soft tooling for silicone/polymer components
Perform DFM / DFx assessments for manufacturability and scalabilityConduct prototype validation testing and implement design improvements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve issues
Document learnings, risks, and recommendations
Required Skills
Hands‑on experience in softgoods prototyping (textiles, silicone, polymers, leather)
Strong knowledge of pattern engineering and 2D pattern creation
Expertise in cut‑and‑sew techniques (seams, stitches, thread selection)
Experience with EVT/DVT builds and rapid prototyping cycles
Solid understanding of DFM / DFx principles
Experience integrating hardware into softgoods (buckles, magnets, connectors)
Familiarity with validation testing (tensile, tear, abrasion, environmental)
Proficiency in CAD tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, or Rhinoceros 3D
Experience in manufacturing engineering support
