
Utility Maintenance Mechanic

Overview
Incumbents in this position are responsible for mechanical operations and repairs of treatment facilities, ground water wells, water towers and CFPUA buildings. This position is assigned to pay grade G13.
Responsibilities
Maintains various pumps, motors, and electrical systems and performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
Conducts safety inspections, maintains lubricant and fluid levels, and cleans work areas.
Performs maintenance at CFPUA building and administrative facilities.
Identifies and corrects work hazards while ensuring compliance with established safety policies.
Repairs plumbing.
Troubleshoot equipment and makes necessary repairs.
Repair and replace piping, valves, and other vital pieces of equipment on the plant.
Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment, assist with supply inventory, and operates job related tools.
Preventative maintenance on plant equipment such as filters, clarifiers, pumps, bar screen, digester heaters.
Perform annual inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment on the plant.
Repairs and maintains plant chemical system.
Remains on call/standby for emergencies.
Checks Maximo (work order program) and prioritizes work orders.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Emergency and Essential Job Specifications
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
High school diploma or GED.
Six (6) months of mechanical work experience in or any related work field.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license required.
This position will be placed on an On-Call rotation that requires a response within 30 minutes of notification.

Standing/sitting/walking for lengthy periods with light physical exertion.
Physical exertion involving lifting up to 20 pounds.
Physical exertion involving lifting up to 50 pounds and above with assistance.
