
Rate Clerk - Revenue Accounting

Job Title
JOB TITLE: Rate Clerk
Initially, this position will report at 650 West Peachtree St. in Midtown Atlanta, GA.
Purpose:
Responsible for protecting revenue by applying expertise in rate and division processes, and railway accounting rules to analyze systems, resolve billing issues, and investigate customer accounting matters.
Responsibilities
Must become familiar with procedures required to successfully analyze and manage rating, division, and Interline Settlement System (ISS) queues and reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting and industry rules, and revenue protection.
Professionally communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve revenue protection issues.
Investigation and resolution of customer accounting files and claims.
Troubleshoot repetitive waybilling and freight billing issues.
Job Related Experience
Minimum Level: 2 years of experience with invoicing or billing
Education
Preferred Level: Bachelor\'s Degree (BBA)

MS Excel/Spreadsheets
MS Outlook
MS Word/Word Processing
Ability to type 40 Words Per Minute
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Additional Union Membership/Seniority Information
New hires will typically join the union within 60 calendar days of the first day of service. This is a shift position that could include nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Employees typically become eligible for health benefits on the first day of the calendar month that follows employment. Spouse and dependents may be eligible for coverage. Dental and vision coverage after one year of service.
Candidates should expect on the job training.
Collective bargaining rules and clerical seniority will govern the hours of service and working conditions/requirements.
Wage rates, benefits, and other duties are governed by the applicable TCU collective bargaining agreement, with the 100% step-rate daily wage detailed below.
Union Step Rate Pay
Year 1:
For your first 12 months of employment, you will be paid
85% of the full rate .
Year 2:
After completing one year, your pay increases to
90% of the full rate .
Year 3:
After two years, your pay increases to
95% of the full rate .
After 3 Years:
Once you complete three years of employment, you will reach
100% of the full rate , which is currently a Wage Grade 13
$383.71
and subject to annual GWI\'s on 7/1 consistent with the Agreement provisions.
Additional Qualifications and Job Responsibilities that may be required in connection with Clerical seniority
Understanding and following enforcing safety rules and processes
Attention to detail and ability to work independently
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities
Ordering material, using a forklift, and storing items in the appropriate location
Capable of lifting 50+ pounds and may require outdoor work
Must pass background screening and post-offer medical examinations, including drug tests
