Overview
Busy boutique criminal defense law firm in downtown Boston seeks an experienced legal assistant/paralegal to assist with all facets of business operations and litigation support. Responsibilities include reporting to the Managing Partner/Firm Owner; legal research; drafting and editing pleadings and correspondence; case file maintenance; hearing and trial preparation assistance; bookkeeping; client calls and correspondence; general administrative assistance; and additional as needed support of the practice and its attorneys.
Responsibilities
Report to the Managing Partner/Firm Owner
Conduct legal research
Draft and edit pleadings and correspondence
Maintain case files
Assist with hearing and trial preparation
Perform bookkeeping
Handle client calls and correspondence
Provide general administrative assistance
Provide additional support as needed to the practice and its attorneys
Work Environment and Schedule
Generally 9 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday in office, but some before/after hours/weekend work as necessary. Possibility of some remote work days.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary commensurate with experience; option of with or without company contribution to benefits, with salary adjustment as per the employee's election. Generous paid holidays and vacation policy.
Practice Coverage
Practice covers all of Massachusetts in State and Federal Courts, including appeals; occasional cases outside MA in surrounding states. The office is busy and fast-paced, with interesting cases. The successful candidate will play an integral role in all aspects of the business, including business operations and litigation.
