Job Description
The Jimenez Law Firm is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join their team. The firm has locations in Lewisville, Flower Mound, and Odessa, Texas.
Ideal litigation paralegal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience handling family, probate, or civil litigation matters.
Responsibilities
The litigation paralegal will be responsible for preparing preliminary drafts of pleadings, discovery, and correspondence; maintaining calendars, deadlines and reminders for attorneys; preparing, organizing, and filing documents; assisting in scheduling and preparation for hearings, depositions, and mediation; and ensuring timely e‑filing in state courts.
Requirements
5+ years’ experience as a paralegal handling family, probate, and/or civil litigation matters
Interview potential clients, meet with attorneys, and assist in determining case strategy
Client‑focused, team‑orientated, and self‑motivated
Work up and maintain case files; draft and prepare legal documents, pleadings, and orders for various family law matters
Draft discovery requests and responses; manage clients to ensure discovery deadlines are met
Prepare attorneys for trials and mediation; attend trials as necessary
Manage policy deliverables and workload tracking, including regulatory filings and project management support
Prioritize workload with flexibility and attention to detail
Knowledge of Texas Family Code, Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, and applicable law research
Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
Efficient use of systems and procedures, with a strong sense of organization
Initiate and diligently see tasks to completion
Commit to continuing education in family law issues
Access online court systems and research tools; meet billing requirements of 1200 billable hours per year
Computer literacy and experience with standard office equipment and software; handle large case loads
Proficiency in drafting pleadings, discovery, orders, and electronic filing
Knowledge of bankruptcy and the federal PACER system is a plus
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word and Outlook)
