POSITION:
Student Support Counselor
REPORTS TO:
Assistant Principal

COMPENSATION:
$65,264 - $83,419
The Role
Provide direct instruction and coordinate social and emotional learning initiatives.
Establish solution-focused procedures and data-driven practices to better serve students, families, and staff.
Use data for planning positive school culture through social, emotional, and behavioral programming.
Input, review and analyze student data to assign relevant interventions.
Conduct quality assessments to develop evidence-based interventions supporting student achievement.
Identify, report and implement evidence-based interventions for at‑risk students as outlined by Texas Education Agency.
Coordinate team strategies for chronically absent students.
Consult and collaborate with campus system staff, parents/guardians, and community partners in a multidisciplinary approach.
Seek community resources and make referrals to support students, parents and staff.
Advocate for students and families, respecting diverse cultures and socioeconomic groups.
Use feedback from stakeholders to improve services and professional growth.
Engage all students, build positive relationships with appropriate boundaries.
Apply crisis intervention and post-disaster support skills.
Maintain accurate records and safeguard privacy of information.
Pursue continuous enhancement of knowledge and skills through supervision, professional development and continuing education for licensure requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Must Haves
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling
Hold or obtain one of: LMSW, LCSW, LPC‑I, LPC, LPC‑A within six months of employment
Experience with early childhood and elementary populations
