Opportunity to join a vibrant company experiencing rapid growth. We are seeking a Senior Associate / Assistant Vice President-level candidate to work on the asset management team. The candidate will support senior asset managers in overseeing commercial loans and REO assets, as well as directly manage a portfolio of assets.
CMBS special servicer that involves management and oversight of a portfolio of distressed loan and REO - also performing underwriting, credit risk assessment on new CRE loans targeted for sale to CMBS trusts.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Management
Support senior members of the asset management team in their management of a portfolio of CMBS loans and REO assets to include financial analysis, preparation of valuation models designed to compare competing hold versus sale exit strategies on a net present value basis, participate in negotiations, and occasionally travel to meet with counterparties and inspect collateral properties.
The candidate will also have direct oversight of a portfolio of loans and REO with property types ranging across the commercial real estate spectrum.
Participate in the analysis and underwriting of commercial real estate loans with collateral types including office, hospitality, retail, industrial and multifamily. The underwriting exercise will conclude with a risk rating and assessment of the borrower's ability to perform and exit the credit at loan maturity.
Underwrite borrower requests that require lender consent, including assumptions, modifications, major leases, property management changes, or additional debt.
Participate in quarterly watchlist reviews to evaluate the financial performance of various assets and make recommendations as to whether loan performance merits placement on the watchlist.
Profile
4-5 years commercial real estate asset management, investments underwriting and/or valuations experience.
Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Mathematics, or other related fields.
Must be a highly motivated, independent worker within a fast-paced, collaborative culture.
Ability to work closely with others as well independently to produce accurate, detailed work.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical and critical thinking skills; attention to detail; and ability to multi-task.
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, proficiency in Word and Power Point.
Knowledge of Argus is a plus.
Interest in commercial real estate, financial markets, and risk management.
Knowledge of real estate finance concepts, and the ability to analyze financial statements.
