Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator. The successful candidate will coordinate research studies at the Medical Center, including recruitment, enrollment, grant submissions, data collection, and study coordination. Responsibilities also include intra‑operative monitoring, liaison activities with funding agencies, ensuring protocol compliance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements, and supporting clinical trials as needed. The role involves working closely with Patients/Subjects and the Principal Investigator and collaborating with Research Nurses, Pharmacists, Program Managers, Medical Technicians, Clinical Information Systems, and Regulatory Services.
Job Responsibilities
Prepare and submit grant applications; organize paperwork, follow up, and coordinate resolutions; report to sponsors to fund medical research.
Oversee human subjects research activities; obtain IRB approval, submit required documents, audit enrollment statistics, and provide timely information to the Office of Clinical Trials.
Maintain up‑to‑date regulatory documentation; assist with informed consent; monitor patient compliance and safety; report concerns to Principal Investigator, Physician, and Research Nurse.
Collect, audit, and manage patient data; abstract chart information; prepare forms and reports; conduct study visits and document information.
Assist in budget development and monitoring; review sponsor‑proposed budgets; prepare funding reports and identify new potential sponsors.
Make decisions based on data, resolve complex situations, and refer unresolved issues to supervisor.
Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
Screen potential patients/subjects for eligibility; gather medical records, referrals, and advertisements; schedule visits; verify inclusion/exclusion criteria and informed consent.
Demonstrate clinical competency in EKG, phlebotomy, centrifuge, specimen handling, storage, and shipping; complete required trainings and certifications.
Engage in continuous learning; maintain 10 CEUs annually; serve as a research resource to peers.
Generate reports for sponsors and regulatory agencies; prepare databases and preliminary measurement reports; complete assessments on study subjects per protocol.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, health‑care administration, or a related field.
Minimum of two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience, preferably in a research setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet applications.
Effective oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and external customers.
Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.
Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration.
Ability to operate research‑related equipment.
Strong time‑management skills and ability to multitask.
Problem‑solving ability; work well under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Certification (preferred; required in some disciplines).
Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Experience working in an Academic Medical Center.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
