
Part-time Faculty Pool: Certified Nursing Assistant

Job Summary
Merced College seeks an Adjunct Faculty member for a part‑time instructional assignment under the direction of the Dean of Allied Health, Child Development, Kinesiology and Public Safety. The faculty member will integrate nursing principles into both classroom and clinical instruction, manage student learning in clinical facilities, and maintain communication between facilities, staff and the College. The role may include evening and weekend hours with a maximum teaching load of 10 units per semester.
Responsibilities
Provide innovative and effective instruction in accordance with current pedagogy and established course outlines and expectations.
Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance policies, maintaining regular and substantive contact.
Maintain and submit required student attendance and scholastic records on the Learning Management System.
Utilize the Learning Management System to deliver, prepare, and grade class assignments and examinations.
Apply and maintain effective instructional design skills and methods.
Post and maintain regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy.
Participate in the development and review of curriculum, teaching–learning methods, and materials.
Engage in departmental, area, and campus professional activities and committees.
Represent the College within the Merced community and professional circles.
Participate in the College's learning outcomes assessment program to continually improve student learning outcomes.
Qualifications
Professional experience is required with a Master's degree; or, an Associate's degree with six years of full‑time LVN or RN experience; or a Bachelor's degree with two years of full‑time LVN or RN experience.
Must meet California Department of Public Health (CDPH) requirements, including at least two years of nursing experience with one year in chronic or elderly care.
Promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti‑racist principles to create an inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments.
Benefits
Sick leave: faculty earn sick leave credit at the rate of one hour for every 20 hours of paid service.
Sick leave applies to part‑time hourly employment.
