Responsibilities

The Behavioral Health Mid-Level is responsible for strategic planning, operational oversight, and clinical leadership of mental health and substance abuse programs within the facility.

Defines department goals, develops policies, and oversees daily operations to improve mental health services.

Oversees treatment services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices and high standards of care.

Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as accreditation standards. Investigates critical incidents and manages risks.

Directs recruitment, hiring, training, and performance evaluation of clinical staff (social workers, counselors, therapists).

Prepares, manages, and oversees the department budget and ensures financial viability.

Collaborates with medical, mental health and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care while maintaining a safe and secure work environment.

Monitors compliance with site-specific and company policies and procedures, taking appropriate corrective action, and ensuring compliance with ACA and NCCHC standards.

Qualifications

Education

A master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field

Holds an active, unrestricted licensure as a (LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT, LMHP, LISW, etc.) in Alabama

Active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)

Experience: Has a minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in behavioral health, including clinical and administrative leadership in a mental health care or acute care setting, with correctional healthcare experience preferred

Strong leadership, budgetary analysis, interpersonal, and communication skills

Effective communications skills for building patient rapport and relaying information and treatment plans with other medical and mental health care professionals

Strong organizational skills to track patient treatment plans and progress notes

Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary information and adhere to a Code of Conduct and facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
