Clinical Social Worker (Health/Correctional Facility) - Safety (Permanent/Fulltime)
Role Overview
The Clinical Social Worker (CSW) functions as a treatment team member, providing case management, individual and group treatment for patients committed to the Department of State Hospitals. The CSW evaluates patients upon admission and throughout the hospital stay, and guides the discharge process. The CSW determines the patient’s avenues for release, coordinates discharge resources in the community, and assists with transition to community settings. The CSW serves as a liaison for outside entities such as the courts, continuing care units, and social supports.
Responsibilities
Provide case management and individualized treatment for committed patients. Conduct group treatment sessions. Evaluate patients upon admission and throughout stay. Determine discharge options. Coordinate discharge resources. Liaise with courts, continuing care units, and social supports.
Requirements
Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school.
Registered with California Board of Behavioral Science as ACSW or LCSW.
Desirable Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Clinical Social Worker in a mental health facility.
Eligibility
Applicants must have permanent civil service status, be reachable on an employment list, have transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility. Applicants without eligibility must take the exam.
Special Requirements
Drug screening must be passed prior to hire.
Background investigation clearance required prior to hire.
Medical clearance required prior to hire.
Active ACSW or LCSW license required; a copy of the license must be provided prior to hire.
