
Certified Surgical Technologist - Per Diem - Operating Room - Atlantic Health Ch

Job Responsibilities
Assist nursing personnel in providing quality care to patients in the operating room.
Perform duties of a scrub person under the direction of a registered professional nurse.
Assist with obtaining supplies, equipment, and opening operating and other rooms as needed.
Prepare instruments for sterilization, including breaking down set‑up.
Help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room afterward.
Check and gather instruments for each case using the surgeon’s preference card.
Verify sterility tapes, dates, and the integrity of wrappers.
Open sterile supplies, maintain a sterile field, and correct any technique breaks promptly.
Perform surgical scrub, gown, and glove procedures for self and the surgical team.
Arrange instruments, basins, sutures, and other equipment in a precise manner to enable an accurate count after surgery.
Assist circulating nurses with counts of all sponges, cottonoids, needles, vessel loops, umbilical tape, Penrose drains, and other devices.
Use all devices and instruments appropriately and perform the standard draping technique.
Pass instruments to the surgical team safely and efficiently.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree in Surgical Technology or a related field preferred.
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program required.
Certification through NCCT or NBSTSA required.
1–2 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a hospital setting preferred.
BLS certification required.
