Overview
We are looking for an experienced legal assistant who can help the busy attorneys and paralegals at our law office assist clients. You’ll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of cases, gaining valuable experience in various areas of civil litigation for two partners at the firm. You’ll be responsible for managing office correspondence, including answering phone calls and emails, arranging meetings and travel, calendaring, and ensuring our legal team is aware of upcoming deadlines. You’ll also assist with preparing legal documents and contracts, and perform any other tasks as needed to ensure our firm is operating efficiently.
Responsibilities
Work with attorneys and paralegals to create various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, contracts, and briefs for case preparation, and proofread documents when requested
Take care of administrative tasks and office correspondence by answering phone calls and emails, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and informing the team of upcoming deadlines
Be willing to take on any other necessary administrative tasks to help the firm run smoothly
Arrange travel, schedule meetings and appointments for the team, such as depositions, and coordinate with outside vendors for events
Conduct legal research, when necessary, with guidance from attorneys and paralegals
Qualifications
Must be able to prioritize tasks with demanding deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment
Associate’s degree, or some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is necessary
Applicants must have excellent communication skills and organizational skills
Candidates should be able to type at least 50 words per minute
Compensation
Compensation:
$50,000-$60,000 per year
