Job Summary
Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center – Woodbridge, VA is seeking a full‑time, night shift Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) for a Direct Care Registered Nurse II – Emergency Department position. The RN will work a 7:00 pm – 7:00 am shift, 2 8‑hour call shifts per 6‑week schedule. Up to $20,000 sign‑on bonus is available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
The RN is responsible for delivering competent nursing care in the emergency department, applying the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation). The RN will maintain professional practice standards, including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
Education / Credentials
RN–Associate’s Degree
RN–Bachelor’s Degree
RN–Diploma
RN–Master’s Degree
RN–Doctorate Degree
Certifications / Licensure
Registered Nurse (RN) License – Compact/Multistate License
Registered Nurse (RN) License – Single State (Virginia)
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
Experience
2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience (preferred)
Additional Requirements
Within one year of hire: Critical Care/IMCU ACLS; Emergency Care – ACLS & PALS or ENPC; Oncology Care – ONS/ONCC or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card. Within six months of hire: Women’s Care – Perinatal departments, NRP, Inpatient Pediatrics – PALS. All Direct Care RN’s required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
