Overview
Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA is hiring a Full-Time Rotating Shift Registered Nurse for our Short Stay/Surgical Observation Unit (Wendell 2). The unit has 24 beds and specializes in women’s health, ortho/spine, general surgery, and bariatrics with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6. Hours are confirmed based on unit needs: Night shift 7 p.m.–7 a.m.; Day shift 7 a.m.–7 p.m. The unit operates on 12-hour shifts with weekend rotations, and a sign-on bonus of up to $20 000 is available for qualified candidates.
Wendell 2 is an award-winning Surgical Short Stay unit that emphasizes rapid patient turnover and a collaborative multidisciplinary team. It offers a robust orientation program, bi-weekly learning sessions, and a mentor-based residency for new graduates and experienced nurses alike.
Qualifications
Registered Nursing degree or diploma (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Valid RN license in VA (required)
BLS certification within 90 days of hire (required)
No prior experience required; 1 year of acute care experience preferred
Transition to Practice Program
All new RN hires with less than 12 months of experience automatically enroll in a six-month program that includes:
General nursing orientation
Specialty clinical track residency
Professional development sessions
Mentoring and unit-based preceptors
