Intake Therapist

PRN/Per Diem

Via Linda Behavioral Hospital is an innovative behavioral health hospital offering a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient services to the people of Scottsdale and the greater Phoenix, Arizona metro area. Our 120‑bed facility will offer specialized mental health services and substance use treatment for teens, adults and older adults experiencing issues such as depression, anxiety, personality disorders and co‑occurring addictions.

Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Intake, the Intake Therapist ensures that smooth, trauma‑informed and orderly processes are followed for telephonic and in‑person assessments to assist the physician in the identification of an appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake Therapist is responsible for initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinating the referral and intake process, managing the admission process, providing trauma‑informed assessment/treatment of patients, and ensuring timely service to patients. The Intake Therapist maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff, and interfaces closely with hospital physicians, referring hospitals, and community referral sources. The position may require being cross‑trained for other Intake Department roles such as BHT or Intake Coordinator, and may also involve insurance verification and prior authorization as needed.

Position Qualifications
Minimum Education
Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health or a related field.

Preferred Education
None specified.

Minimum Experience
1 year of experience in social services, community mental/behavioral health, mental‑health setting, inpatient setting, and performing administrative duties, crisis interventions, and customer service.

Preferred Experience
2‑3 years of experience in social services, community mental/behavioral health, mental‑health setting, inpatient setting, performing administrative duties, crisis interventions, and customer service. Prior experience in intake/assessment departments preferred.

Required

Valid Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance or ability to obtain it
