Overview
Locate Technician is responsible for learning the Centric Services way. A
Locate Technician
places a high priority on safety and quality while driving, parking, and performing line locating. The Technician uses magnetic sensing equipment and maps to identify the location of underground utility lines and pipes. Color coded spray paint is used to mark the location and type (gas and fiber) of the underground line.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Receives work tickets from the Korweb system
Reads and interprets utility maps showing underground utilities
Utilizes an RD7100 to detect location of underground utilities
Digs with a shovel as necessary to pinpoint the location of underground utilities
Marks the path and type of utility lines using correct florescent paint color
Follows strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines for Utility Line Marking
Provides records of work performed using a Company issued iPhone and iPad
Wears assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) and company uniform
Follows safety, quality, and operational procedures
Completes assigned routes and work orders on the assigned date
Participates in safety meetings
Provides timely reports and documentation to management per procedures
Escalates issues and questions to Supervisor per procedures
Shows courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees
Maintains a satisfactory attendance record
Keeps assigned vehicle clean
Reports customer, equipment, and vehicle issues immediately
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
1+ years of related experience
Ability to walk long distances consecutively, up to 3 miles.
Ability to obtain OQ Certifications within three (3) months of hire.
Required to be on a rotating schedule of On-Call Duty once the employee acquires Field Technician II status.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred related experience in a field operations environment.
Understanding of local codes and regulations.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Job requires employee to stand on his/her feet for extended periods of time, climb ladders, walk considerable distances on worksite, lift objects up to 50 lbs, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching
Work is performed outside with the exposure of weather extremes such as, but not limited to, heat, rain, and cold
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to excessive due to high traffic areas and/or areas of construction
