Accounting Specialist
Job Summary
Perform bookkeeper, financial, and office assistant duties to help with the organization and performance of administrative tasks, as well as make monthly computer accounting entries for clients using QuickBooks.
The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional able to undertake a variety of office support tasks and work diligently under pressure. This person will be comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion as well as incorporating new and effective ways to achieve better results.
Essential Duties
Prepare client employee statements and process paychecks. Maintain payroll files and create reports.
Calculate net salaries, deductions, and withholdings.
Updating payroll files and general ledger.
Resolve payroll issues.
Ensure payroll documents and tax documents are accurate (W-2, 943, 941, 940, etc).
Participate in payroll audits.
Ensure compliance with governmental laws payroll taxes.
Filing all required payroll monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports.
Respond to any letters received from government agencies regarding payroll issues.
Maintain access to clients' online transcripts and financial information.
Contact grain marketing company to confirm grain sales.
Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings, and statements for clients.
Perform day-to-day financial transactions including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivable data for clients.
Send accounting reports to clients.
Prepare and file sales and use tax.
Assist other staff as needed with their questions.
Job Overview & Scope
Organize office and assist field staff in ways that optimize procedures.
Take messages including appointment cancellations and reschedules.
Monitor level of supplies and handle shortages.
Maintain trusting relationships with clients.
Maintain and update databases such as mailing lists, contact lists, etc.
Retrieve, sort and distribute incoming mail.
Assist in W-2/1099 processing.
Experience / Education
Associate's degree in accounting or commensurate experience.
1 year (preferred) in accounting or bookkeeping.
