Position Summary
We are currently hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician. The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Mobile Diesel Technician I/II, the Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician is considered the lead on jobsites by customers and technicians and functions as a consultant on the customer’s behalf. A successful Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high‑level performance metrics.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.

Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.

Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges.

Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper working condition.

Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.

Independently manage parts inventory on company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.

Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.

Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.

Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations effectively.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.

Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures and details on Repair Orders (“RO”) using a company‑issued iOS device and the proprietary TRAIT application.

Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely fashion.

Work independently, managing own daily schedule.

Maintain a high level of productivity, meeting or approaching most standard repair times.

Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.

Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss RO findings.

Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years’ experience in a related field; alternatively, a higher degree or 5 years’ experience may be considered.

At least 3 years of experience working with refrigerated equipment.

Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.

OEM training and certifications are preferred.

Successful completion of DOT‑regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical (or a current DOT medical card with more than four months until expiration).

Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.

Safe drivers needed; valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license required and must maintain a Driver Qualification File.

Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods, perform moderately heavy labor, and endure repetitive tasks without tiring.

Excellent communication skills, engaging in effective two‑way communication and presenting information succinctly.

Logical and reasoning abilities to assess strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.

Certifications (Required or Preferred)

Required within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI) certification, ASE 608/609 certification.

Preferred: ASE T2 (Diesel Engines), ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE A8 (Engine Performance), ASE L1 (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist), ASE L2 (Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist).

Compensation
Hourly pay rate is in the range of $32.26 – $48.41 per hour. The base rate may vary within this range based on location and candidate qualifications. Position may be eligible for additional compensation, including commission (annual or monthly) and/or incentive programs.

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays annually, plus additional leave for bereavement, voting, jury duty, volunteer, military, and parental leave.
