IT Support Technician (Field/Shop Support)

Insight Global, Houston, TX, United States

Job Description

We're looking for an experienced, independent IT generalist to support our Houston office, fabrication shops, and job sites. This is a mid-level role for someone with broad general IT knowledge who can walk into a shop, diagnose a connectivity issue, fix a printer, troubleshoot a workstation, and drive to the next location - all without needing someone looking over their shoulder. You'll handle day-to-day IT issues across multiple locations, triage problems on your own, and escalate to system or network administrators when needed. You're not expected to be an expert in everything, but you need solid general knowledge and the ability to work through problems independently. The role is a mix of office, shop floor, and field work.

What You'll Do

· Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues (desktops, laptops, printers, label printers, scanners)

· Respond to IT tickets and help users with day-to-day problems

· Travel between office and shop locations to provide support

· Set up new computers, devices, and equipment

· Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues - check switches, access points, cabling, and Starlink equipment; escalate to network admins when needed

· Work in shop environments supporting workstations, tool controllers, and shop systems

· Act as "remote hands" for system administrators, network administrators, and outside vendors

· Handle employee onboarding and offboarding (new hire setup, equipment provisioning, account creation)

· Track and manage IT equipment inventory

· Go to job sites in the Houston area when needed

· Manage and deploy devices using Intune or similar MDM tools

· Image and deploy workstations using established processes and tools

· Diagnose and resolve printer issues including print queues, spooler problems, and network printer configuration

· Able to lift and move equipment when needed

· Valid driver's license and able to travel locally

· Strong troubleshooting instincts - you can triage a problem you haven't seen before and know when to escalate CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certification
