Overview
The Import Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating international import shipments via ocean and air freight from origin to final delivery. This role ensures compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, timely movement of cargo, accurate documentation, and exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in end-to-end import operations within a freight forwarding environment.
Office-based role in Atlanta, GA

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage international import shipments for both ocean and air freight
Track shipments from origin through final delivery and proactively communicate status updates to customers
Prepare, review, and process import documentation including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, ISF filings, and arrival notices
Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs, CBP regulations, TSA, FDA, USDA, and other applicable government agencies
Work closely with overseas agents, airlines, steamship lines, trucking companies, customs brokers, and warehouses
Monitor shipment milestones, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions
Verify freight rates, issue billing instructions, and ensure accurate invoicing and cost control
Resolve shipment discrepancies, claims, and customer issues in a timely and professional manner
Maintain accurate records within the freight forwarding system and ensure data integrity
Support internal teams and management with reporting and operational tasks as needed
Required Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in import operations within a freight forwarding or logistics company
Hands-on experience handling both ocean and air import shipments
Strong knowledge of international shipping documents and import compliance requirements
Familiarity with U.S. Customs procedures and Incoterms
Proficiency with freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
