*Job Overview*
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer to join our family-owned business. This vital full-time role involves overseeing funeral arrangements, providing bereavement support to families, and ensuring all services are conducted with dignity and professionalism. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, a thorough understanding of physiology and anatomy, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a sensitive environment. *Duties*

* Meet with surviving family members to plan, schedule, and coordinate funerals, burials, memorial services and cremations, arranging such detail as the time and location of services, obituary writing, merchandise selection, or coordination or transportation of the decedent.
* Inform survivors of benefits for which they might be eligible.
* Maintain funeral arrangement books, maintain and organize financial records, order merchandise, and prepare accounts.
* Perform embalming duties including, but not limited to, dressing, casketing, applying cosmetics, and reconstructive techniques when necessary.
* Plan placement of casket at the funeral home or funeral sites, and place and adjust lights, fixtures, and floral displays.
* Receive and usher people to and from their seats for services.
* Inform pallbearers and honorary groups of their duties.
* Assist in the work of other funeral directors, embalmers, administrative clerks, part-time staff, cosmetologists, and guests.
* Perform general maintenance and other duties assigned by ownership or management.
* Lead or participate in community outreach programs related to grief support and education

*Experience*

* Valid licensure as a Funeral Director with South Carolina certification, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
* At least 2 years prior experience in funeral directing including meeting with families, arranging funeral services and related fields such as mortuary science is preferred.
* Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to properly handle remains with care and professionalism
* Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide empathetic support during difficult times.
* Excellent attention to detail and consistent high levels of accuracy.
* Experience in event planning, sales, or client relations is advantageous
* Familiarity with sanitation procedures, cosmetology techniques for body preparation, and dissection processes is desirable
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling caskets or equipment
* Excellent communication skills combined with sensitivity and discretion in dealing with grieving families
* Must be punctual, organized with ability to multitask.

This role requires a dedicated professional committed to providing respectful service while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently. Candidates should be prepared for emotionally demanding situations but will find fulfillment in supporting families through their most challenging moments.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
