Overview

HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR , Research Laboratory of Electronics, supports a dynamic interdisciplinary research lab with a focus on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, HR policies, and personnel records; manages academic and non-academic HR transactions, coordinates visa processes, and supports salary equity reviews and special projects. Oversees postdoctoral appointments and offboarding for 80–100+ scholars, including reappointments, promotions, and visa coordination (F-1, J-1, H-1B, TN); advises faculty on salary equity, mentoring plans, and annual reviews; liaises with the Office of the Vice President for Research; coordinates visa applications and timelines with the International Scholars Office; ensures compliance with MIT policies; develops and analyzes HR reports using Cognos for strategic planning; maintains HR records and databases; tracks appointments and visa expirations; processes non-academic hires and changes with accuracy and timeliness; manages weekly payroll for staff, UROPs, and visiting students; oversees Research Assistant appointments and may participate in committees and special projects.
Responsibilities

Advise faculty and managers on recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR policies, and personnel records.
Manage academic and non-academic HR transactions; coordinate visa processes and support salary equity reviews and special projects.
Manage postdoctoral appointments and offboarding for 80–100+ scholars, including reappointments, promotions, and visa coordination (F-1, J-1, H-1B, TN).
Advise faculty on salary equity, mentoring plans, and annual reviews; liaise with the Office of the Vice President for Research; coordinate visa applications and timelines with the International Scholars Office.
Support HR matters for faculty and staff, including employee relations and policy interpretation; assist with recruitment, onboarding, and welcome events; ensure compliance with MIT policies.
Develop and analyze HR reports using Cognos for strategic planning; maintain HR records and databases; track appointments and visa expirations.
Process non-academic hires and changes; manage weekly payroll for staff, UROPs, and visiting students; oversee Research Assistant appointments; participate in committees and special projects.
Qualifications

REQUIRED : Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of HR experience; strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with discretion and judgment.
PREFERRED : MIT experience.
