Position Summary
Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and equipment by performing various duties.
Position Responsibilities (selected)
Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate root causes of malfunction or other technical problems.
Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts for repair or replacement.
Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Repair or replace defective parts as necessary.
Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
Perform preventive maintenance: lubricate and clean parts as necessary and as scheduled.
Fabricate necessary parts.
Operate machines to test performance during maintenance processes.
Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metal working tools to make and repair machine parts.
Initiate purchase order process for parts and machines.
Work with Electrical Maintenance Tech to maintain electrical equipment.
Work with EHS Manager to address technical related safety issues.
Keep work order tickets current using the MaintainX system.
Qualifications – Education / Experience
Required:
Collect and research data, using intuition and experience to complement data.
Generate creative solutions, use feedback to modify designs, and demonstrate attention to detail.
Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, develop alternative solutions to problems.
Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information one‑on‑one and in small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a machine maintenance technician in a shop environment, preferably within the aerospace industry.
