Consumer Lending Underwriter
to review and decide a variety of consumer loan applications while supporting staff and delivering an excellent member experience.
In this role you will underwrite consumer loans including direct and indirect auto, home improvement, home equity, credit cards, and lines of credit while ensuring compliance with credit union policies and lending regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze consumer loan applications to determine credit risk and make sound lending decisions
Approve, deny, or elevate loan requests when appropriate
Communicate with frontline staff regarding additional information or documentation needed for loan decisions
Prepare and complete home equity loan documentation and guide members through the closing process
Assist with loan servicing including payoffs, refinances, payment extensions, collateral releases, and due date changes
Review loans after funding to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance
Assist with processing loans and new member accounts received through indirect lending channels
Ensure all lending decisions comply with Fair Lending laws and consumer lending regulations
Support staff by answering questions related to loan policies, procedures, and products
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Two to five years of lending or underwriting experience
Strong knowledge of consumer lending and credit analysis
Understanding of credit union loan policies and regulatory requirements
Strong analytical, communication, and problem solving skills
Professional presence and ability to work collaboratively with staff

Compensation
Compensation: $65-70K annually
