Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Assistant to support the payroll team with processing employee wages, maintaining records, and ensuring accuracy in timekeeping and payments. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone looking to start a career in payroll or accounting.
Responsibilities
Assist with processing payroll for employees in a timely and accurate manner
Review and verify timecards for completeness and accuracy
Enter payroll data, including hours worked, adjustments, and deductions
Maintain and update employee payroll records
Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and timekeeping
Assist with compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Help prepare payroll reports and documentation as needed
Help with mail distribution
Coordinate with HR and other departments to resolve payroll discrepancies
Meet payroll deadlines on a regular schedule
Qualifications
High school diploma or 0-3 years of accounting experience preferred
Basic understanding of payroll or accounting principles is a plus
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Works under direct supervision
Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Coins) is a plus
Familiarity with timekeeping systems
Basic knowledge of labor laws and payroll regulations

Pay
Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California, this ranges from $25.00–$29.00 hourly plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
Contingent Employment
All employment offers are contingent upon successful drug tests, background checks, and professional reference checks. Roles that include driving as an essential job duty will be required to have a successful Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR). We are not able to offer sponsorship of employment at this time.
