Location: Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, Wichita, KS (ICT)
Shift Schedule: 0800 – 1630, Tuesday (must be able to work weekends)
Rate of Pay: $24.00 an hour
Required: Must possess mechanical tools and toolbox
Role Purpose
This role is responsible for the safe and efficient repairing and rebuilding of airport service vehicles. These vehicles include support trucks, stationary carts, tankers, and hydrant trucks. You will inspect and identify defective or broken parts on vehicles and make repairs to gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. The maintenance team ensures our aircraft services team can operate effectively by providing preventive care for equipment and timely repairs, ensuring all work is performed safely and supported by established procedures and protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and resolve complex problems by troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems and combustion engine problems on customer‑owned Tennant products and similar competitor models.
Perform diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles and heavy equipment.
Conduct repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow.
Conduct heavy lifting and equipment repair tasks as needed.
Proficiency in working with diesel engines, Caterpillar machinery, and farm equipment.
Experience in heavy equipment operation preferred.
Ability to weld and perform heavy lifting tasks.
Prior experience as a service technician in the automotive industry.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Provide labor and time estimates.
Document processes and service repairs using a computer.
Produce timely and detailed service reports using Ebis Software.
High attention to detail and self‑motivation.
Inspect and identify defective or broken parts on vehicles, making repairs to gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Hydrate electrical equipment according to the Hydration Schedule.
Repair all non‑motorized equipment.
Able to program and understand the functions of the Rapid Charger, including the Battery Monitor and Identification Device (BMID).
Repair and replace all tires and wheels.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual quality control checks on the equipment.
Maintain records relating to maintenance.
Drive and operate service equipment vehicle.
Able to perform an accident inspection on involved equipment.
Report all accidents to Shop Supervisors and Managers.
Answer all radioed repair calls on the ramp.
Ensure our aircraft services team can operate effectively by providing proper preventative care to equipment and timely repairs to broken equipment.
Must be able to safely operate all vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) – Perform Daily Equipment Checks (DEC’s).
Maintain a safe and secure work environment, in accordance with local health, safety, and security policies and procedures.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3 to 5 years of mechanical experience.
Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
Available and flexible to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Airports and Custom badges/seals.
