Custom Manufacturing and Engineering Inc. is seeking a
Senior Accountant
to take ownership of core accounting processes in a manufacturing environment supporting aerospace and defense programs.
This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting a disciplined monthly close, and ensuring consistency in how established accounting processes are executed. The position includes exposure to inventory and cost accounting, along with compliance with
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ,
Cost Accounting Standards , and
Defense Contract Audit Agency
requirements.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes ownership, follows through, and resolves issues rather than working around them.
Key Responsibilities
Own general ledger activity, including journal entries and reconciliations
Support a structured monthly close with a
4-business-day target
Ensure accuracy of financial data and resolve discrepancies
Support inventory and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting
Analyze manufacturing costs and variances (labor, material, overhead)
Assist with cost allocations across production and programs
Prepare financial reports and support GAAP-compliant statements
Maintain audit-ready documentation and support external audits
What This Role Requires
Success in this role requires someone who will:
Ensure accounting processes are consistently followed
Identify and resolve issues rather than deferring them
Bring accountability and attention to detail to daily work
Qualifications
Required:
4–6 years of accounting experience with general ledger responsibility
Experience with month-end close
Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
Manufacturing or inventory accounting experience
Cost accounting exposure (standard or job costing)
Experience with
Deltek Costpoint
or similar ERP systems
Familiarity with government contracting environments, including
Defense Contract Audit Agency
or
Cost Accounting Standards
Must meet U.S. Person requirements under ITAR/EAR. Employment verified via E-Verify.
