Overview

The ENDO/Procedure Room Nurse is responsible for providing exceptional patient care and family support throughout the surgical experience. This position provides the physician members of the healthcare team with the equipment, supplies and support to perform surgical/endoscopic procedures. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor’s in nursing preferred. Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey required. BLS required. ACLS required within 6 months of hire and designated by specialty below. Ability to effectively communicate with others and adjust to changes within daily schedule of activities required. Prior Ambulatory Surgery Center experience preferred.
Experience:

Minimum 2 years medical/surgical experience required; 1-2 years Endoscopy or procedure room experience preferred. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
Certifications:

BLS; ACLS within 6 months of hire; SGNA. Certification preferred.
Performance Expectations

Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.
Work Environment

Potential for exposure to hazards and risk of the hospital environment, bloodborne pathogens, infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position works in a busy, noisy environment with frequent interruptions requiring re-evaluation of priorities. Requires standing for long periods, occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and walking short distances quickly.
