Construction Services Technician - Fargo, ND
We’re looking for a Seasonal Construction Services Technician to support a major water infrastructure construction project spanning from central to eastern North Dakota. In this role, you will serve as the Engineer’s onsite representative to facilitate communication between the Contractor and Engineer, and to observe and document the construction of key components of the water supply project, such as 72‑inch diameter steel pipeline installation, utility relocations, road/drain crossings, and other heavy civil construction activities. This role is ideal for candidates with experience or interest in construction inspection, construction services, civil construction or infrastructure projects.
As a Construction Services Technician, you will serve as the Engineer’s onsite representative, supporting communication between the contractor and engineer, and observing and documenting construction activities in accordance with project plans and specifications.

What This Position Offers
Seasonal role
Dependent upon construction season but typically April through December
Anticipated layoff period from January through March (winter months)

Responsibilities
Provide onsite construction and field observation and documentation for all construction activities (primarily 72‑inch pipeline construction), including daily reports, photos, and as‑built GPS data.
Support construction activities by monitoring Contractor performance to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and contractual requirements.
Facilitate clear communication among the Owner, Engineer, and contractors to keep all parties informed on progress, quality, and project expectations.
Maintain organized project records, including tracking reports, close‑out documents, and other required files.
Attend project meetings and collaborate with construction personnel regarding scheduling, materials, RFIs, and other field‑related activities; regional travel and occasional overnight stays required.
Basic Qualifications
A.A.S. in a field related to Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Land Surveying or other related field.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Must be available to work throughout the regional area.
All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Land Surveying or related field.
EIT or PE license.
2+ years of construction observation and administration experience.
Experience on water, wastewater, or rural water projects.
Physical Qualifications
Ability to walk up to 10 miles on uneven terrain.
May require lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, with rare lifting of up to 75 pounds.
Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs as well as moving the whole body such as running, maneuvering, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Drive and navigate vehicles or mechanized equipment including but not limited to all‑terrain vehicles or watercraft.
Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
Use hands and arms to handle, install, position, and manipulate or move materials.
Service, repair, calibrate, regulate, fine‑tune, or test machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily based on electrical or electronic principles.
May be required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including but not limited to flame‑resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
May require occasional evenings and weekends with overtime expectations varying with workload.
May be required to travel to off‑site locations including occasional overnight stays out of town.
