
Emergency Department Tech - Mount Carmel St. Ann's - Nights

Position Purpose
In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Emergency Department Technician will provide patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the Organization.

12 Hour Night Shift (three 12‑hour shifts per week from 7 pm – 7:30 am with rotating weekends and holidays)
What You Will Do
Respond to patient needs in a timely manner
Provide transportation and patient escort
Perform visual acuity tests, eye irrigations and equipment setups
Perform phlebotomy and obtain lab specimens as ordered
Follow appropriate protocols and participate as a team member for trauma, stroke, heart and sepsis alerts, and resuscitation
Perform wound care and practice sterile technique when appropriate
Perform suture and staple removal, excluding facial region
Perform foley care and collect specimens
Perform EKG and document results
Collect and document patient data (vital signs, weight, procedures performed)
Report observations and condition changes to RN and/or physician promptly, such as changes in vital signs or symptoms
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school graduate or equivalency
Licensure / Certification: Successful completion of an approved course(s) which includes basic patient care skills, EKG, phlebotomy, and BLS required
Experience: Previous patient care experience and/or technical education in a health‑related field preferred
Effective communication skills
