
Commercial HVAC Refrigeration Technician

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Refrigeration Service Technician is responsible for the operations, repairs, replacement, and preventative maintenance of commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment.
Must have a working knowledge of rack systems, walk-in coolers and freezers, ice machines, reach‑in coolers and freezers, and basic HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, exhaust fans, make‑up air units and associated electrical equipment.
Ability to diagnose and repair refrigeration equipment to include:
Strong understanding of the refrigeration circuit
Understand superheating and subcooling.
Hot gas circuits and operations
CPR’s EPR’s and head pressure control valves (ORI, OROA, LAC)
TXV/Orifice operations
Ability to perform leak checks (electronically and pressurized)
Ability to solder, braze, and pipe fit.
Understand reciprocating compressor operation.
Use different types of compressor oils.
Understand electrical circuits and processors.
Defrost clocks.
Defrost heaters.
Contactors
Relays
CPC Processors
Technicians will be familiar with all refrigeration equipment and all refrigerants.
Work with the Dispatch Team to ensure that the workload is accomplished in a complete and timely manner.
The individual must maintain safe work practices in support of the OSHA Health & Safety and NFPA 70e standards as it applies when performing the assigned duties.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
5 years of experience in maintaining similar type and size commercial equipment, along with a current Universal CFC certification
Strong oral and written communication required.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision in isolated areas.
Knowledge and experience in the proper use and safe operation of hand tools, equipment, and testing devices necessary to perform all work assignments.
Ability to stand, sit, or squat for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift, move, and carry material up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work at extended heights.
Ability to operate scissors and boom lifts.
Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), e.g., dust mask, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection.
Working knowledge of desktop computers and Internet-based programs.
A company uniform will be issued, and a neat personal appearance will be required.
This position will require a background check and drug screening.
Valid Driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
