Job Overview
Correctional Support Licensed Trades Supervisor I (CSLTS I) is a Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor responsible for the Buena Vista Correctional Complex. Primary responsibilities include ensuring the safety and security of the general public, staff and inmates, ensuring facility fleet vehicles are maintained, performing metal fabrication and supervising inmate workers. An ASE Certification and CDL class A license is required to repair and operate facility vehicles.

Safety and Security
This position maintains the safety and security of the facility and work sites through clear communication, training staff and inmates in the use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment and chemicals, and through adherence to agency regulations and the Code of Penal Discipline.

Supervision
Provides safety and security by supervising assigned staff, training inmate workers, setting performance standards, and ensuring safe construction practices. Coaches and mentors staff for career growth.

Inmate Supervision
Participates in hiring, trains inmates in preventive maintenance and repairs for the facility fleet. Monitors progress, conducts evaluations, calculates inmate hours and pay, and resolves grievances.

Operations
Operates the state-owned garage and oversees the facility fleet of automobiles, heavy duty trucks, heavy construction equipment, and performs routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotation, and major repairs. Performs welding and metal fabrication as needed. Maintains records for State Fleet Management. Assists with building construction projects across the complex.

Tool Room Management
Manages the tool room according to administrative regulations, ensuring proper labeling, inventory, and distribution of tools and hazardous materials.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of employment experience in automotive mechanical repair, welding (metal fabrication), and/or heavy construction equipment repair, including at least two (2) years of heavy construction equipment/automotive repair.

Colorado Class B Commercial Driver's License (must obtain within two years of employment).

ASE Certification (must obtain within two years of employment).
