Position Summary
A Respiratory Therapist treats patients with respiratory diseases and conditions using specialized medical equipment, oxygen therapies, and manual treatment techniques; examine and evaluate patients for respiratory problems; and operate medical equipment to carry out cardiopulmonary tests.
Education
Graduate of an AMA accredited educational program for Respiratory Care.
Successfully completed the National Board for Respiratory Care certification exam and/or Registry Exams.
Current and valid license with the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.
Current CPR and PALS certifications required. ACLS required for all regular day shift staff.
Experience
Two years accumulated work experience in a similar job and/or hospital respiratory therapy department.
Work Environment/ Physical Demands
The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Demonstrates the ability to work accurately and effectively in oral and written directions and communication.
Enjoys working with people and works cooperatively with other hospital staff.
Ability to stand for periods of time while setting up equipment, assisting in therapy of patients.
Constant kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting and occasional need to lift patients.
Medium lifting; generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
