Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center

is a 149‑bed Residential Psychiatric Facility that services children and adolescents ages 5 to 17, located in South Florida.

Responsibilities
The Unit Coordinator will be responsible for management of the milieu of the unit(s) assigned and supervising the Mental Health Technicians on their unit(s). They will also assist the Charge Nurse in organizing and monitoring all aspects of resident care and represent the Mental Health Technicians in committee meetings.

Observe patients to detect behavior patterns and document and report observations to the Charge Nurse or appropriate staff.

Take and record measures of patients’ general physical condition (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, respiration) and notify the Charge Nurse or staff of abnormal values.

Facilitate patient education and activity groups.

Assist patients with ADLs and personal needs (clothing, property, grooming).

Use approved verbal and physical de‑escalation techniques.

Escort patients to meals, breaks and other activities.

Promote a therapeutic environment.

Perform other duties as assigned or required by this position.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and three to five years’ experience working with children or adolescents, or A.A. degree and one year experience; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Previous psychiatric experience preferred.

Current CPR Certification (training provided).

Detail oriented and able to successfully multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong communication skills.

Excellent customer service and organization skills.

Highly effective listening skills.

Physical Requirements
Continuous verbal and written communication; hearing ordinary conversation. Occasionally hearing high‑pitched or low‑pitched sounds. Continuous firm/simple grasping and fine manipulating of both hands.
