
Lead Mental Health Technician - Day Shift

Responsibilities
Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center
is a 149-bed residential psychiatric facility serving children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is in South Florida, near Jonathan Dickinson State Park and the Atlantic Ocean. We are the largest treatment center of its kind in the southeast and host Riverbend Academy, an accredited school on our campus.
Sandy Pines is seeking a dynamic and talented Day Shift Unit Coordinator/Mental Health Tech Supervisor. The MHT Unit Coordinator will be responsible for management of the milieu of the units assigned and supervising the Mental Health Technicians on their assigned unit. They will also assist the Charge Nurse in organizing and monitoring all aspects of resident care, and will represent the Mental Health Technicians in committee meetings.
Key Responsibilities include:
Observes patients to detect behavior patterns. Documents and reports observations to Charge Nurse or appropriate staff.
Takes and records measures of patients\' general physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure and respiration. Notifies Charge Nurse or appropriate staff of abnormal values.
Facilitates patient education and activity groups.
Assists the patient with ADLs and personal needs (i.e., management of clothing and property; grooming).
Uses approved verbal and physical de-escalation techniques.
Escorts patients to meals, breaks and other activities.
Promotes a therapeutic environment.
Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and three to five years\' experience working with children or adolescents required, or A.A. degree and one year experience. Bachelor\'s Degree preferred.
Previous psych experience preferred.
Current CPR Certification (training provided).
Detail oriented and ability to successfully multi task in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills.
Excellent customer service and organization skills.
Highly effective listening skills.
