Successful qualified candidates are eligible for a sign‑on bonus, paid out in two installments after 90 days and 6 months of successful job completion.
RVT's are eligible for a $3,000 Sign‑on Bonus.
Non‑licensed veterinary assistants/technicians are eligible for a $1,500 Sign‑on Bonus.
Position Overview
The RVT / Veterinary Assistant supports hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations, reviewing care plans and records, performing laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging.
Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications and vaccines, and bandaging wounds.
Support patient examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing and transporting patients, restraining patients, and assisting the veterinarian.
Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment usage for pet care.
Obtain and verify medications.
Ensure patients have food and water, maintain clean rooms, cages, and equipment; observe clinical signs.
Fill prescriptions and administer medications with proper documentation and controlled drug security.
Maintain a safe, sanitary, and humane environment by sterilizing instruments, disinfecting areas, storing supplies, and following legal regulations.
Document patient conditions, reactions, and changes in the database accurately and timely.
Communicate patient status to pet owners as directed by the veterinarian.
Maintain equipment, troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and request repairs.
Maintain inventory, place orders, verify receipts, and manage supplies.
Participate in educational opportunities and read professional journals to update job knowledge.
Release pets to owners as directed, ensuring they are clean and groomed.
Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice.
Qualifications
Emergency experience is a must.
Strong skills in medical math and ER triage.
CPR proficiency.
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license preferred.
Schedule
Full Time, Swing Shift
Tuesday to Thursday & Saturday; 2 PM – 12:30 AM
