This entry level professional social service position is located in the Ongoing Services Unit of Lycoming Children and Youth Services. The primary responsibility is to provide the full array of child welfare case management services to children and their families dealing with issues of child abuse and neglect. Services will be provided for children residing in their home, as well as to children placed outside their natural home. The goal of Ongoing Services is to assist parents/caregivers to develop and maintain the skills and abilities to safely care for and parent their children. When a child has been placed outside the home, the goal is to achieve timely permanency through reunification, or while utilizing concurrent planning initiatives, to achieve permanency through Adoption, Permanent Legal Custodianship, Placement with a fit and willing relative, or in Another Permanent Planned Living Arrangement. The extent of caseworker involvement and frequency of contact with the child, family, courts and other stakeholders, will be determined by risk, need, and level of service being provided. At times, this will require flexibility in working after hours or weekends to provide the necessary crisis intervention and support to families and their children. This position will be supervised by the Ongoing Services Supervisor.
Responsibilities

Provide the full array of child welfare case management services to children and families dealing with issues of child abuse and neglect.
Deliver services for children residing in the home and for children placed outside the home.
Support the goal of reunification or achieve permanency through Adoption, Permanent Legal Custodianship, placement with a relative, or another Permanent Planned Living Arrangement.
Determine the extent of caseworker involvement and frequency of contact with the child, family, courts and other stakeholders based on risk, need, and level of service.
Be flexible to work after hours or weekends to provide crisis intervention and support when needed.
Operate under supervision of the Ongoing Services Supervisor.
Work Schedule and Additional Information

Full-time employment.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Qualifications

Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college-level coursework which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
