General Assembly Technician
The General Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and testing of custom control panels, electrical assemblies, wire harnesses, and cable systems in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring products are built accurately, safely, and efficiently to meet customer requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working with electrical components, hand tools, and production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions
Build and assemble custom control panels, electrical assemblies, wire harnesses, and cables according to blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
Perform point-to-point wiring, cable routing, crimping, stripping, labeling, and termination of electrical components.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively during assembly processes.
Inspect completed assemblies to ensure accuracy, functionality, and compliance with quality standards.
Conduct basic electrical testing and troubleshooting to verify proper operation of assemblies.
Maintain organized workstations and ensure tools, materials, and equipment are properly handled.
Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and production guidelines.
Collaborate with team members, engineers, and supervisors to resolve assembly issues and improve processes.
Meet daily production goals while maintaining high levels of workmanship and attention to detail.
Experience Requirements
Mechanical aptitude (understand how things fit together, enjoy working with your hands, or have experience in hobbies or side projects involving tools, electronics, cars, woodworking, or repairs).
Previous experience in electrical assembly, panel building, manufacturing, or a related production environment helpful.
Experience with custom control panels, wiring harnesses, or cable assemblies is highly desirable.
Familiarity with reading technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
Hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Basic computer skills for accessing work instructions, recording production data, and communicating internally.
Ability to use hand and power tools with confidence and precision.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move materials as needed.
Attention to detail.
Willingness to learn.
Reliable and strong work ethic.
Problem-solving ability.
Basic math skills, including measurements, fractions, and simple calculations.
Basic electrical knowledge, including understanding of circuits, wiring, and component identification.

Preferred Qualifications
Technical training, certification, or vocational education in electrical systems, electronics, or manufacturing.
Experience in a custom fabrication or industrial assembly setting.
Knowledge of industry safety practices and quality control standards.
