The Position
Management & Finance, Tax Division Full Time Position includes excellent benefit package, PERS/OPSRP retirement and availability of deferred compensation retirement savings program. Onsite (Courthouse complex) childcare available at a discounted employee rate through Roseburg Professional Childcare (Fowler St. location only). Availability is subject to center waitlist. This position performs complex accounting support to the activities of the Tax Division of the Management and Finance Department. Essential Functions: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.
Provide customer service to the public by providing information related to property taxes
Answer department inquiries
Compute interest and discounts; provide pay-off information
Receive and post payments, issue receipts
Complete daily cash sheet, prepare deposits, and reconciliation
Monitor personal property and mobile home status to collect taxes
Prepare warrants
Develop and prepare notices, letters, and reports
Data entry for various tax related business
Position Requirements
Skills/Qualifications: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job. Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. However, the following is preferred:
Associates Degree in accounting or related field and two years work related experience.
Four years of accounting experience
Banking experience with cash handling and teller proficiency preferred.

Testing:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of any required computer, typing, and/or written tests administered. Considerable knowledge of: Tax regulations and procedures; knowledge of tax filing systems and account classifications; knowledge of standard office machines and practices; proficiency in keyboarding skills; Ability to: operate a calculator and to make arithmetic calculations of a moderately complex nature; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the public; works under the supervision of an administrative supervisor; Skill in: the use of modern office equipment that includes automated equipment and systems; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; provide training to employees relating to tax/accounting systems and procedures; prepare detailed tax, fiscal, and statistical records and reports; work independently or within a team unit; efficiently organize time to meet deadlines; use judgment and maintain confidentiality in dealing with employees and the public; courteously meet and deal effectively with the public, outside agencies and employees.
