Payroll Coordinator

We are seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join our team in Houston, TX. This role supports payroll processing and day-to-day HR Operations. The primary focus is to prepare and audit payroll, so it is clean and ready for final review and approval.
This is a high-volume, execution-focused role with consistent and repetitive processes for each payroll cycle. This position focuses on accuracy, timeliness, and maintaining clean data while following internal processes and applicable state and federal pay/wage laws. It is not a strategic or project-based role. Success comes from attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to maintain routine tasks.
Key Functions

Prepare weekly and biweekly payroll batches in ADP Workforce Now for final review and approval from Sr. Payroll Specialist
Perform final audit of timesheet data prior to payroll processing (after initial cleanup by field and shop support)
Ensure payroll data is accurate, complete, and aligned before deadlines
Support post-payroll activities including HSA funding, 401(k) contribution changes, and loan updates
Assist in maintaining payroll records and backup as needed; responsible for payroll folder and upkeep
Assist with audits, unemployment claims, workers' compensation reporting, and employment verification
Partner with operations support to ensure time sheet data is complete before payroll processing
Backup support with onboarding tasks (new hire entries, I-9 coordination, system setup)
Assist with retirement audits and compliance tracking
Provide general support to the HR team as needed

Work Qualifications

Required:
12 years of payroll, HR, or administrative experience
Strong attention to detail and follow-through
Strong organization and time management skills
Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Ability to communicate clearly and work with different teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain payroll schedules
Preferred:
Experience with ADP Workforce Now
Experience in a shop, field service, or manufacturing environment
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Work Environment

Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the role.
Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time or until the end of the assigned shift.
Must be able to lift 15 lbs. safely and properly, as needed throughout the assigned shift with or without assistance.
