Material Handler

The Material Handler will pursue the following job objectives; ensuring that the production needs for the automated assembly lines are met in a timely manner, inventory movement transactions are done accurately and promptly, cycle counts of components and sub-assemblies are performed accurately and promptly, and component part locations are maintained in conjunction with the warehouse.
Main Tasks
Maintain a valid certification on all forklift and material moving equipment
Assist with staging material for production when necessary
Must be able to maintain accurate records by using SAP and other PC skills
Support production schedule to the assigned sequence
Maintain accurate and timely production/downtime records
Attain and maintain certification
Work with new operators to develop increased skill sets
Take the responsibility to contain all suspect material
Complete QAP verification within the defined times and frequencies
Must be able versed in company quality standards and use of quality test equipment
Comply with all Stabilus and OSHA safety regulations and systems
Assist maintenance technicians with scheduled weekly PM activities
Must be familiar with entire product line, and all related component parts.
Secondary Tasks
The job holder is obliged to follow the existing procedures and work instructions and act accordingly.
Education, Training, Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required. Fork Lift certifications required.
Experience
Three to six months work experience is required to become proficient in most phases of the job
Job Knowledge and Skills
Fork Lift certification
Demonstrated SAP transaction capability
Automated assembly certification
DOT training required with training renewal every three years
Accountability / Impact of Errors
Abiding and practicing safety rules during the operation of any material handling equipment in and around work areas at all times.
Working Conditions
Exposed to typical warehouse/receiving environment which is greatly affected by seasonal weather conditions.
Transports parts to/from outside storage area and plant production areas which could have disagreeable conditions for short periods of time.
Physical Requirements
Standard physical requirements for a forklift driver include excellent hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and good depth perception. Operators must possess sufficient strength and stamina to sit or stand for long periods, frequently bend, twist, and climb on/off equipment. Physical fitness, adequate hearing, and corrected vision are necessary for safety.

Ability to lift heavy objects, bend, twist, and climb on/off equipment.
Vision and Hearing:

Good vision (aided or unaided) and hearing are crucial for identifying safety hazards, reading labels, and following signals.
Hand-Eye Coordination:

Precise, rapid, and precise movement to control the forklift, especially in tight spaces.
Physical Stamina:

Capacity to remain alert while operating machinery for extended periods.
Physical Exam:

Some roles require passing a physical exam to ensure fitness for the job.
Dexterity:

Ability to manage multiple, repetitive controls.
Operators must also be able to work in various climates, such as hot or cold, if the job is in a warehouse or outside.
