Material Handler

The Material Handler will process incoming materials from manufacturing to designated areas in the warehouse. Package partial containers into full containers by KF2 standards, label, and close or cover materials. Mark containers with identifying information, stencil or stamp other information on containers such as lot numbers.
Main Tasks
Updates, researches, and maintains materials inventory records through the company computer system, enters, retrieves, edits data, and prints out various lists, recaps and summaries of inventory control.
Follows up to clarify parts inventory discrepancies such as lost, inaccurate counts, improper codes/identification, unidentified parts, etc.
Uses fork-lift or hand truck to load/unload trucks and transport parts/materials to specified storage area or department.
Clean immediate work area.
Maintains various warehousing related records and logs of inventory such as cycle counts.
Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
Secondary Tasks
Extensive walking over large area, with bending, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling required. Moves large, heavy, bulky cargo with assistance of material handling equipment. Moderate to heavy lifting required.
Education, Training, Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required. Forklift certifications required.
Experience
A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in a warehouse in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Job Knowledge and Skills
Must know the proper warehousing storage locations, and system.
Requires skill in the use of fork-lift, electric crane, pallet jack, calculator, copier, etc.
Requires ability to operate all equipment within the Warehouse department.
Must be familiar with the entire product line and with all related end fitting hardware, attachment procedures.
Must be familiar with company quality standards and be skilled in the use of basic hand tools.
Accountability / Impact of Errors
Follows established procedures for processing and dispersing materials with judgment and initiative required to maintain accuracy of work and complete job tasks efficiently.
Careless use of forklift could result in damages to equipment. Moves and stores large quantities of raw materials which could be damaged if handled improperly. Failure to properly identify or label shipments could result in confusion, delays and customer ill will. Improper storage could lose materials for some time.
Any errors will affect on-time percentage rating for STABILUS-Gastonia. Moves products close to other employees which could cause injury if safety procedures were not followed.
Working Conditions
Exposed to typical warehouse/receiving environment which is greatly affected by seasonal weather conditions. Transports parts to/from outside storage area and plant production areas which could have disagreeable conditions for short periods of time.
Physical Requirements
Standard physical requirements for a forklift driver include excellent hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and good depth perception. Operators must possess sufficient strength and stamina to sit or stand for long periods, frequently bend, twist, and climb on/off equipment. Physical fitness, adequate hearing, and corrected vision are necessary for safety.
