The Setter on 2nd shift is responsible for planning and performing mold changes on compression and injection molding machines, setting all process parameters to produce high-quality rubber parts for the aerospace industry. This role supports a highly organized, safety-focused manufacturing environment and offers hands-on training for individuals who are eager to build a long-term career in manufacturing.
Shift: 2:30pm - 11pm (OT after shift stay until 1am if needed)
$21/hr
Responsibilities

Perform and plan mold changes on injection and compression molding machines to ensure efficient production of quality parts.
Set and adjust process parameters such as temperature, cure time, bumping, and pressure to achieve process approval and stable production.
Carry out part changeovers and machine setups in an efficient manner to reduce downtime and scrap in line with defined targets.
Maintain strict adherence to company policies, safety and ergonomic standards, and good housekeeping practices, and address non-compliant behaviors.
Periodically check molding parameters to ensure a stable and consistent production process.
Conduct light maintenance and basic troubleshooting to resolve process-related issues.
Review and address red-tagged items by taking appropriate corrective actions.
Transport molds to and from the tool shop and prepare them for setup, including any required pre-heating or preparation.
Perform minor tool repairs and de-nicking to keep molds in proper working condition.
Ensure all setup requirements, such as loader boards, preparation materials, mold release, and pre-heated molds, are available and ready before setup begins.
Support and implement health and safety policies and integrate safety considerations into daily work activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the ongoing needs of the production operation.
Essential Skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with molding machines and tools.
Capability to lift 3550 lbs on a daily basis.
Motivation to learn new skills and processes in a production setting.
Positive, eager attitude and strong work ethic.
Ability to distinguish different item codes and identify differences in molds.
Comfort with performing light maintenance and basic troubleshooting on production equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Entry-level role; no previous experience or resume required.
Previous production or manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
Openness to candidates who speak Spanish only.
Interest in building a long-term career in manufacturing.
Willingness to work 2nd shift from approximately 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM and stay later as needed.
Willingness to work on Saturdays as part of the regular schedule.
Comfort working in an ITAR-regulated environment.

Work Environment

The facility manufactures rubber parts for the aerospace industry using numerous injection molding machines and hot presses. It operates under lean six sigma principles and maintains an extremely organized layout, with clearly designated locations for products, tools, and office supplies. The machines can generate heat, but the building is equipped with air conditioning units that run consistently to keep the environment comfortable. This is an ITAR-regulated facility with a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and efficient workflows. The role is on 2nd shift, typically from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with the possibility of staying until 1:00 AM as needed and regular Saturday work. Work involves standing, moving around the production floor, handling molds and tools, and lifting 3550 lbs throughout the shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Ana, CA.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
