Lead Phlebotomist - Full Time

As a Lead Phlebotomist, you'll perform highquality specimen collection while supporting the daily operations of the Phlebotomy Department. In this leadershipfocused role, you'll mentor staff, guide workflow, and help ensure accurate, efficient, and patientcentered service throughout the medical center.

What You'll Do
As a Lead Phlebotomist, you'll play a key role in both specimen collection and departmental leadership. You'll ensure smooth operations, support staff, and help maintain high standards of accuracy and service. Responsibilities include:
Performing phlebotomy and specimen collection using ageappropriate techniques and devices
Ensuring safe handling and proper collection methods to maintain specimen integrity and quality
Following correct procedures for labeling, accessioning, and delivering specimens to the appropriate departments
Responding promptly and professionally to STAT, ASAP, NOW, and outpatient collection requests
Communicating effectively with departments, staff, and clinical teams, including alerting appropriate personnel regarding STAT orders
Maintaining the specimen collection component of the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
Performing patient registration functions for courier specimens
Assisting with training and guiding phlebotomy staff, students, and new hires
Serving as a resource for phlebotomists by answering questions, offering guidance, and supporting workflow
Assisting with scheduling and ensuring staff have necessary materials and supplies

What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
3-5 years of phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting
Phlebotomy certification (CPT) or healthrelated experience preferred; onthejob training may be provided
Skills & Additional Requirements
Strong interpersonal skills
Effective verbal and written communication
Typing and basic computer skills required
