What You'll Do
As a Respiratory Therapist, you'll play a vital role in assessing patients, delivering evidencebased respiratory care, and ensuring accurate documentation. You'll support departmental operations while providing safe, effective treatment to patients experiencing cardiopulmonary difficulties. Responsibilities include:
Obtaining data pertinent to therapy through chart review and physical assessment
Administering oxygen therapy, aerosol and humidity therapy, trach care and management, chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, suctioning, bedside respiratory measurements, pulse oximetry, and EKGs
Completing new therapy starts within one hour and responding promptly to emergency situations
Functioning within the Oklahoma Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of practice
Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing equipment per SMRMC policy
Routinely cleaning and assembling departmental equipment before end of shift and checking assigned areas for dirty equipment
Providing complete and competent ventilatory management for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, including treatments, airway management, and tracheal suctioning
Documenting patient status and care provided, including heart rate, respiratory rate, SaO, lung sounds, treatment effectiveness, and any adverse reactions
Adhering to the "five rights" of medication administration and using two patient identifiers
Consistently documenting in iView

Qualifications

What We're Looking For
Licensure / Certification / Registration
Graduate of an accredited respiratory program with at least an associate degree
Current Oklahoma RCP license or Provisional Letter (valid until Board meeting date listed)
NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required and maintained
BLS required
ACLS and PALS required within six (6) months of hire; annual recertification required
SECURE training required within six (6) months of hire
NRP preferred
Experience & Skills
Some clinical experience preferred
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Typing and basic computer skills required
