UPPER SCHOOL MATHEMATICS CURRICULUM LEADER & TEACHER

Leadership Role with Teaching Responsibilities

Location: Waco, Texas
Valor Preparatory Academy is seeking an experienced mathematics educator to serve as the academic leader of our Grades 6–12 mathematics program while also teaching selected upper-division courses.
This role is designed for a candidate capable of shaping a vertically aligned secondary mathematics sequence, supporting faculty development, strengthening honors and AP pathways, and contributing to long-term program excellence during a significant season of institutional growth as our Upper School transitions to a new campus facility.
Faculty at Valor teach students who demonstrate exceptional attentiveness, respect, and intellectual engagement. Class sizes are intentionally small, allowing teachers to focus on deep instruction, meaningful relationships, and high-level academic formation rather than classroom management.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Upper School Mathematics Curriculum Leader provides leadership for the Grades 6–12 mathematics program and contributes through targeted instruction in upper-level courses. Teaching responsibilities are an important but secondary component of the role.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: CURRICULUM LEADERSHIP
Provide vision and structure for the Grades 6–12 mathematics program
Ensure vertical alignment across Logic and Rhetoric School coursework
Strengthen coherence between Algebra I through AP Calculus pathways
Develop pacing guides, shared assessments, and instructional benchmarks
Support student placement decisions and advancement pathways
Partner with administration on long-range academic planning
Assist in development of honors, advanced, AP, and dual credit offerings
Support and mentor mathematics faculty through collaboration and coaching
Contribute to the cultivation of a distinctly classical approach to mathematical instruction
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: TEACHING
Teach a limited selection of Upper School mathematics courses aligned with expertise and departmental needs
Courses may include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Honors Precalculus, AP Precalculus, Statistics, and AP Calculus
Model clarity, precision, and excellence in mathematical reasoning
Integrate faith and learning within a classical Christian framework
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a closely related field
A clear testimony of saving faith in Jesus Christ
Active membership and regular participation in a local Protestant church
Full agreement with and willing affirmation of Valor Preparatory Academy’s Statement of Faith in belief and practice
Demonstrated success teaching upper-division high school mathematics such as Honors Precalculus, AP Precalculus, Statistics, or AP Calculus
Experience contributing to curriculum alignment, departmental leadership, or instructional program development
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree or higher in mathematics or a related field
Experience leading secondary mathematics programs across multiple grade levels
Experience teaching honors, advanced, AP, or dual credit mathematics
Familiarity with classical Christian education and University-Model® schooling
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Base salary starting at $60,000
