Elementary Summer School Director (K–6)
Reports to:
Superintendent (or designated supervisor)
Position Overview
The Elementary Summer School Director (K–6) leads the planning, implementation, and daily operations of a summer learning program designed to support academic growth, student engagement, and well‑being. This role ensures a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for students while supervising staff, coordinating programming, and maintaining strong communication with families.
Goal of the Role
To deliver a high‑quality summer learning experience that strengthens foundational skills, supports student confidence, and prepares K–6 learners for success in the upcoming school year.
Key Responsibilities
Design and oversee a comprehensive summer school program aligned with K–6 curriculum standards
Establish program goals focused on literacy, numeracy, enrichment, and student engagement
Develop schedules, staffing plans, and daily operational procedures
Ensure compliance with school board policies, safety regulations, and applicable guidelines
Staff Supervision & Support
Supervise teachers and support staff
Provide orientation, training, and ongoing coaching to staff
Foster a collaborative and positive team culture
Student Experience & Well-Being
Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students
Oversee student placement, attendance, and engagement strategies
Address student behavioral concerns in collaboration with staff and families
Ensure appropriate supports for diverse learners, including students with special needs
Monitor classroom practices to ensure alignment with program goals
Provide resources and guidance to enhance teaching and learning
Use data to assess student progress and inform program adjustments
Family & Community Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians
Communicate program expectations, updates, and student progress
Address concerns and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
Operations & Logistics
Manage daily school operations, including arrival/dismissal, transitions, and supervision
Coordinate materials, facilities, and technology needs
Oversee student safety procedures, including emergency protocols
Maintain accurate records related to attendance, incidents, and program outcomes
Program Evaluation
Collect and analyze data on student achievement and program effectiveness
Prepare reports and recommendations for future summer programming
Lead staff debriefs to identify successes and areas for improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education required; Master's degree in Educational Leadership or related field preferred
Valid teaching certification; administrative certification preferred
Experience working with elementary‑aged students (K–6)
Prior leadership or administrative experience in a school or summer program setting
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Knowledge of elementary curriculum and instructional best practices
Working Conditions
Full‑time, temporary position during the summer program
On‑site presence required during program hours
Active supervision of students and staff throughout the day
Working Schedule
6/22/2026 – 7/31/2026
Monday through Friday (specific Fridays off will be communicated)
