Oncology Field Medical, Director
This role is based in Texas (Remote – Field Based), with a preference for the Houston area.

Core Responsibilities

Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers within Texas, coordinating with other Pfizer colleagues to achieve medical objectives.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of malignant hematology disease states and Pfizer medicines, providing therapeutic area and product information to internal and external stakeholders.

Serve as a conduit for medical information and customer insights, sharing requested information to HCPs per Pfizer guidance and returning customer viewpoints to Pfizer.

Contribute to medical content strategy development and execute aligned Field Medical tactics aligned with Pfizer Medical Affairs priorities.

Communicate and collaborate effectively with headquarters and other Field Medical colleagues.

Demonstrate expertise in communication across multiple channels, including live and virtual presentations, written communication, and telephone or virtual conversations.

Optimize patient‑centricity of medical communications and deliverables, applying health literacy and cultural awareness principles.

Role Responsibilities

Deliver approved medical content about Pfizer medicines and relevant topics in malignant hematology.

Identify and seek medical engagement with priority customer segments.

Provide truthful, accurate, and scientifically supported information in response to unsolicited medical requests from HCPs, complying with all Pfizer guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Field relevant inbound queries from HCPs via the triage process.

Partner with Oncology R&D and Global Product Development to identify potential sites for Pfizer‑sponsored clinical trials, including sites serving under‑represented populations.

Provide medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) process.

Cultivate malignant hematology expertise, staying current with congress data and literature.

Communicate study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation concepts with customers.

Demonstrate strong territory leadership.

Communicate reactively and proactively with local Patient Advocacy Groups, in collaboration with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs.

Deliver insights on local patient organization structure, capabilities, and needs.

Serve on Medical, TA, and asset cross‑functional committees as appropriate.

Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs leadership with professional associations and societies.

Mentor onboarding partners, advisory board members, and study leads.

Participate in special projects as needed.

Basic Qualifications

MD or DO degree required.

4+ years of relevant experience.

Subject‑matter expert recognized across internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated breadth of diverse leadership experiences, including influencing and collaborating with peers and creating business impact.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to understand and respond to multiple external and internal customer demands and manage conflict constructively.

Current residence in Texas, preferably in Houston.

Ability to manage a significant volume of projects developed in a remote environment.

Experience working in a matrixed, multi‑disciplinary team to foster strong relationships aligned with Pfizer medical objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree (e.g., Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Health Sciences).

Deep expertise or clinical experience in malignant hematology.

Established network of HCPs in Texas.

Familiarity with internal/external SOPs, rules, and regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions.

Previous Field Medical experience.

Self‑starter, accountable, and urgency in delivering medical impact.

Strong clinical and technical skills.

Ability to influence, collaborate, coach others, and guide colleagues toward meaningful outcomes.

Travel and Scheduling Requirements

Flexibility to travel 60–80% of time.

Proximity to airline hub city required.

Ability to work on weekends occasionally (e.g., advisory boards, regional meetings, congresses).

Operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly on airplanes for HCP/customer meetings and internal meetings.

Compensation and Benefits
Annual base salary ranges from $230,900 to $384,800. The position is eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a target bonus of 25% of base salary and participation in the share‑based long‑term incentive program. Benefits include a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, retirement savings contribution, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental leave, medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage, and other comprehensive programs.
